Match 11 IPL: DD Vs CSK – Chennai Beat Delhi in Thriller

Thanks to a splendid knock of 93 from Matthew Hayden and good show by stand-in skipper Suresh Raina, Chennai beat Delhi by five wickets.

Set a target of 186 to win by Delhi, Chennai reached the required score with five balls remaining.

After getting rid of the danger-man in Matthew Hayden, Delhi packed off Albie Morkel for a naught to get back into the game. Amit Mishra returned favours when he caught Morkel off Dilshan to dismiss fourth Chennai wicket.

Dirk Nannes followed by getting the better of Justin Kemp's middle stump.

Matthew Hayden missed his century by just seven runs as Dilshan took a brilliant catch off Amit Mishra to send him packing.

Hayden gave the Delhi bowling attack a tough time as he led Chennai&s charge well.

After opener Parthiv Patel lost his wicket to a run out, Umesh Yadav accounted for the second Chennai wicket when Amit Mishra took an easy catch at short midwicket to pack off Subramaniam Badrinath.

Delhi managed to put up a defendable score of 185/6 despite suffering some major blows in the middle of their innings.

Just when Mithun Manhas and Dinesh Karthik were trying to get Delhi back into the game, Joginder Sharma dismissed Karthik to claim the hosts' fifth wicket.

Then Raina took another catch to dismiss Rajat Bhatia off Balaji.

Muttiah Muralitharan rocked Delhis ship as he claimed big ones in Tillakaratne Dilshan and Virender Sehwag in the same over.

Virender Sehwag hit a quick half-century as hosts Delhi were looking set to build on a good start.

But, first Suresh Raina took an easy catch to dismiss Dilshan off Muralitharan and then Kemp took a brilliant catch near the boundary to show Sehwag the way back.

R Ashwin then packed off AB de Villiers in the next over as Raina took an impressive catch at midwicket to deal Delhi another quick blow.

Laxmipathy Balaji dealt Delhi the first blow as he accounted for David Warner. Matthew Hayden took an easy catch at midwicket to dismiss first Delhi wicket.

Earlier, Delhi chose to bat first after winning the toss against Chennai at Ferozeshah Kotla.
