'Bat pe AI chip hai kya?' - Vaibhav Sooryavanshi asked what's special in his bat after bagging Orange Cap

2 hours ago 23

Rajasthan Royals' (RR) social media admin threw a question at 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who got hold of the Orange Cap once again after smashing 43 off just 16 balls against Punjab Kings in Match 40 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. In a humorous clip going viral on social media, Sooryavanshi was asked whether he has clipped an AI chip into his bat, which allows him to score runs for fun.

Sooryavanshi gave an innocent reply, saying that there is nothing like an AI chip in his bat, but it is the god-gifted talent and years of hard work that help him score the amount of runs that he does in one of the biggest cricketing leagues in the world.

"Bhagwan ne laga ki diya hai; Upar hi bola tha ki bat mein tumhaare kuch laga ke de raha hoon. Ussi ka istemal kr raha hoon (God has given me something; He told me from up there that there is something in my bat, and I am currently putting that to use)," Sooryavanshi responded.

For the unversed, Sooryavanshi's reply was in response to a viral claim made by a Pakistani cricket expert Nouman Niaz, who had asked to check whether there's some mechanical or AI device installed on the cricketer's bat.

"What is that boy! Like WADA does doping checks, he should be sent to some lab, he probably has some AI chip installed in him. He's absolutely unreal, man. I mean, I'm having such high hopes. What a player he is," Niaz had said in a video as quoted by NDTV Sports.

Sooryavanshi tops Orange Cap leaderboard

Notably, the 43-run knock against PBKS on Tuesday, April 28, at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, New Chandigarh, helped Sooryavanshi reach the 400-run mark after nine matches in IPL 2026. He is also the current holder of the Orange Cap, with legendary cricketers like Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and Sanju Samson also in competition among the top five.

The Samastipur-born had made his IPL debut during the 2025 edition against Lucknow Super Giants in Jaipur and had announced himself on the big stage with a six off the first ball he faced. This year, it has been an extension of his fearless and bold display with the bat. Several cricket experts and fans have started a debate regarding his international call-up as early as the next T20I series that India plays.
