Cameron Green has finally proved his worth! After flopping with the bat in five matches of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2026), the Australian all-rounder finally broke free from the shackles of poor form, with a xx-run knock off xx deliveries in the game against the Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Friday. Green brought up his first half-century since 2023 in the league and, for the first time, somewhat tried to justify his price tag of Rs 25.20 crore.
Green slams first fifty since 2023, slowly but steadily
Green failed to score a boundary in the first 15 deliveries that he faced against GT, as he came out to bat at number 4. It was in the first delivery off Prasidh Krishna in the 9th over that the Australian finally managed to find the fence. Thereafter, he struck a couple of more boundaries in the course of the next two overs to get himself going. Green accelerated in the 12th over where he slammed Rashid Khan for a four and a six followed by a couple of sixes off Ashok Sharma in the next over.
Thereafter, he continued hammering boundaries at regular intervals until he was dismissed in the final delivery of the first innings by Rashid Khan, as he was caught behind by Jos Buttler. Green finished with 79 runs to his name off 55 deliveries, having struck 7 fours and 4 sixes, at a strike rate of 143.64.

In 2023, the Mumbai Indians (MI) paid INR 17.50 crore for Green, and he delivered his best-ever IPL season. He averaged over 50 and struck at over 160. The next year, he was traded to the Royal Challengers Bengaluru and didn’t have the same results.
Green has scored just three fifties before this match, and his last one in the IPL came way back in 2023. He was in poor form before the start of the tournament, managing to score only 24 runs across limited opportunities in the T20 WC 2026
