Prashant Veer created history in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2026) auction as he became the joint-most expensive uncapped player in the history of the tournament. The Uttar Pradesh star was bought for a whooping Rs 14.20 crore by five-time champions Chennai Super Kings after a fierce bidding war. Veer is the third most expensive player in the IPL 2026 auction so far (at the time of publishing this copy).

Veer delivered a standout performance in the Uttar Pradesh T20 League (UPT20), having scored 320 runs from 10 games, averaging 64. He was even called for trials by CSK before the mini auction, which pretty much explains why the five-time champions were hell bent to get him in the IPL 2026 auction. The 20-year-old serves as a perfect replacement for Ravindra Jadeja, as he is a left-arm all-rounder.

Playing for Rajasthan in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025, the keeper-batter has 133 runs from 5 innings and boasts of a strike rate of 160.24. The finisher earned high praise from former cricketers Ravichandran Ashwin and Aakash Chopra recently. His ability to ace his role as finisher makes Kartik a hot property for CSK in IPL 2026. Overall, Sharma has played 12 T20s in which he has amassed 334 runs at an average of 30.36.
