India are all set to commence their preparation for the 2027 ODI World Cup 2026 as they will take on Afghanistan in the 1st game of the three match series on Saturday. Although Shubman Gill and co. will be without the services of Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya, Rohit Sharma has been 100% fit and is all set to return to action. Meanwhile, unrest in Belfast has forced the BCCI and Cricket Ireland to rethink on the IRE vs IND T20I series.

Rohit Sharma 100% fit

Rohit Sharma is fit as a fiddle. There were some concerns about the opener’s physical state after dealing with a hamstring injury during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season. India’s tour of Ireland doubtful

Cricket Ireland has informed that it is monitoring the situation in the country closely and that a call on India’s tour will be taken within the next 48 hours. This comes amid the growing unrest in Belfast – the same venue at which India are scheduled to play two T20Is on June 26 and 28. The Men in Blue last toured Ireland way back in 2023. A BCCI source revealed that the safety of the players and support staff is a big priority, and if normalcy is not restored, then venue could be changed, subject to Cricket Ireland’s choice. Bangladesh captain hospitalized

Bangladesh cricket team captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz could miss the BAN vs AUS 3rd ODI as he has been hospitalized following the historic win on Thursday. The skipper opted to continue batting in the run-chase in Dhaka despite being hit on the head and vomiting on the field. Bangladesh team physio has now confirmed that Miraz will not be able to take part in the 3rd ODI on June 14. IND vs AFG 1st ODI today

India cricket team will commence their preparations for the 2027 World Cup by taking on Afghanistan in a three-match ODI series that starts from June 13. Shubman Gill and co. who were prolific in the 50-over format of the game last year, lost 1-2 to New Zealand at the start of 2026 following which they have only played T20Is and a Test. India and Afghanistan have never met in an ODI bilateral before. They only played against each other in ODI World Cups and Asia Cups. Read more here.

England thrash SLW in T20 WC opener

England Women registered an emphatic 87-run win against Sri Lanka Women in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 opener to start the tournament with a bang. The hosts amassed 219/1 in 20 overs, thanks to Danni Wyatt-Hodge’s unbeaten 105-run knock off just 62 deliveries. That total is the highest score to be made in a Women’s WC game. In response, SLW were bowled out for just 132 runs.
