Railways wicketkeeper-batter Ravi Singh was snapped by Rajasthan Royals for INR 95 lakh in the IPL 2026 auction, which took place in Abu Dhabi on December 16. Royal Challengers Bengaluru were the other team which went after him but RR prevailed at the end.

Ravi, who was one of the nine players RR roped in at the auction, has a reputation of batting aggressively against both pace and spin in the domestic circuit. He recently featured in the 2025 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and registered 218 runs while striking at an impressive 173.01. He ended up with more sixes (17) than fours (16).

Other than the 10 T20s he has played so far, Ravi has also been part of four List A matches. Although the sample size is small, it is worth noting that his strike rate is on the higher side (121.11), underscoring his hard-hitting prowess with the bat.

The other players acquired by RR were Vignesh Puthur (INR 30 lakh), Aman Rao (INR 30 lakh), Brijesh Sharma (INR 30 lakh), Yash Raj Punja (INR 30 lakh), Kuldeep Sen (INR 75 lakh), Sushant Mishra (INR 90 lakh), Adam Milne (INR 2.4 crore) and Ravi Bishnoi (INR 7.2 crore).

RR mainly focused on fine-tuning their squad with uncapped talent. Dhruv Jurel will be expected to be the primary alternative for the wicketkeeping slot. Learning the finer points of the skill from an Indian cricketer like Jurel can be anticipated to be a good stepping stone for an upcoming talent like Ravi.

Rajasthan Royals' final squad for IPL 2026:

Yashasvi Jaiswal, Riyan Parag, Ravindra Jadeja (traded in), Dhruv Jurel, Shimron Hetmyer, Jofra Archer, Tushar Deshpande, Sandeep Sharma, Nandre Burger, Sam Curran (traded in), Adam Milne, Kwena Maphaka, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Donovan Ferreira (traded in), Ravi Singh, Shubham Dubey, Kuldeep Sen, Yudhvir Singh Charak, Lhuan-Dre Pretorius, Vignesh Puthur, Sushant Mishra, Yash Raj Punja, Brijesh Sharma, Aman Rao
