Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) batter Virat Kohli was penalised 50 percent of his match fees for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during the match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata on April 21, Sunday.

During RCB's 223-run chase, Kohli was dismissed for 18 on the very first delivery of the third over, which was a full toss by Harshit Rana. With the ball appearing to be above waist height, Kohli failed to make solid contact and was caught and bowled. After a review the third umpire Michael Gough upheld the decision and Kohli, visibly frustrated, engaged in a heated discussion with the on-field umpire as he believed it was a no ball.

According to officials, Kohli was found to have committed a Level 1 offense under Article 2.8 of the IPL's Code of Conduct. They have said that the former RCB captain acknowledged the offense and accepted the penalty.
